CALENDARIO ILUSTRADO ENCARACOLADA 2012

Lo primero de todo: ¡FELIZ AÑO!
Lo segundo pedir disculpas por mi ausencia. Empecé un nuevo trabajo y tuve que dejar en un segundo plano el calendario... pero aquí está ya por fin! Ha quedado muy, muy bien y estoy más que contenta. Sólo perdemos el mes de Enero pero nos quedan once más así que animaos a pedir uno. Vienen con un pequeño regalo, una breve explicación de cada mes y las instrucciones especiales para usar Diciembre de 2012. Por favor escribidme un email si estáis interesad@s o si tenéis cualquier duda.
Espero que os guste! Y también deseo que este año os traiga, paz, amor, salud y cualquier otra cosa que andéis buscando.

Second, I want to apologize for my long absence. I start a new job and the calendar had to wait but here it is at last! I am very happy with result. We´re gonna lose January but there´re still eleven months, so contact me if you would like to have one. A little gift comes with it, a brief explanation of each month and the special instruccions to use December 2012. Please write me an email if you are interested. Anyway I hope you like it!

TIERRA PARA OCTUBRE

Tierra, crecimiento... y en este caso más que el sentido de la vista, sería la ausencia de este, es decir, la ceguera. Y como normalmente no vemos lo que está debajo de la tierra sino lo que sobresale de ella, he puesto agujeros de topos para representar este concepto y también un elemento vegetal que representa las raices, otra cosa que normalmente no vemos. Solemos caminarla sin plantearnos que hay debajo, para mi tiene un caracter misterioso y de ahí la llave.
Muy complejo? Por eso he intentado explicarlo.
Espero que os guste aunque me ha quedado muy austero... hasta un poco "Burtoniano".

Earth, growing up... and the sense in this case is the absence of sight, I mean blindness. It is because we usually don´t see what is below but we see what it comes out of it. That´s why I put some mole´s burrows to represent this concept and also a vegetal element to represent roots, another thing that we don´t usually see. We used to walk upon it without stop thinking what it could be under, to me has a mysterious feature and... that´s the key.
Too complex? That´s why I try to explain it.
I hope you like it instead of sobriety...

CALENDARIO 2012

Hola! Quiero enseñaros un adelanto del calendario que estoy preparando para 2012.

La idea surgió en apenas una hora, de unas cuantas servilletas de papel.
Inmediatamente se puso a viajar a través de los 6 sentidos del ser humano, reunió los 4 elementos Agua, Aire, Fuego y Tierra en 4 grupos de 3 meses cada uno.
En el camino cada uno de ellos conoció a un sentimiento particular pero universal y finalmente acabó en China rematando la faena con un poco de I Ching.

Es gratificante cuando después empezar a garabatear sin más encuentras un sentido, un hilo conductor que de repente da la coherencia que necesitas a lo que estás haciendo.

Hi! I want to show you the calendar I am preparing for 2012.

The idea came in less than an hour, from a few paper napkins.
Soon it started its journey through the 6 senses of every human being, put the 4 elements together in 4 groups of 3 months each.
On the way every one of them met a particular but universal feeling and all together they arrived China to hit the thing with a little bit of I Ching.

When a wire appears from nowhere to connect doodles and scribbles it such a pleasant feeling.

Esto es una acuarela hecha con auténtica agua de río del pirineo sur! Después la he retocado con photoshop y la he transformado en un útil separador de hojas, para que no perdamos el hilo y sepamos siempre porque página estamos.

Dedicado a los niños, por ser tan indulgentes con los mayores.

This is a watercolour made with genuine water of a river in the South Pyrenee! Then I touched it up with photoshop and turn it into a useful bookmark, not to lose the thread and the page we are in.

To children, for being so indulgent with adults.

Hola! Esta entrada es un poco diferente que también está bien para variar. Quería enseñaros las tarjetas de visita que he hecho en Moo con ilustraciones por detrás. Estoy encantada y deseando repartir...
Además como ayer fue mi cumpleaños me fui a la librería a hacerme unos autoregalos... al final me compré tres porque era incapaz de elegir, aprovecho para recomendaros: Un papa a la medida de Ana Laura Cantone, (divertidísimas ilustraciones); Pedro y la Luna de Célia Chauffrey (todo un descubrimiento) y por último Cuando no llega la noche de Poly Bernatene (¡todavía estoy con la boca abierta!).

VENTOLINES

Los ventolines son unos simpáticos seres de la mitología cántabra. Estos duendes en concreto ayudan a aquellos que están perdidos en el mar, como pescadores viejos incapaces de remar o pescar... Se supone que bajan de las nubes en las puestas de sol y soplan para acercar las barcas a la orilla.
Forman parte de de un retrato infantil que he hecho y me han gustado tanto que he decidido hacer también una ilustración.

The ventolines are nice pixies from the cantabrian mythology. They help people lost in the sea like old fishermen tired of rowing or fishing. They descends from sunset clouds and blows the canoes to the shore.
First I have made them for a kid´s portrait but I like them so much that I have made this illustration too.

En el mundo de la imaginación todo es posible y por ende en el mundo de las artes y la ilustración también. Intenté hacer algo simbólico a este respecto para un marcapáginas promocional. La copa del árbol es una nube y las gotas de lluvia llueven al revés.

Diseño de vinilo
Hola! ¿Cómo va eso? ¡Por fin ha llegado la primavera!
Vuelvo un ratito para enseñaros algo un poco diferente de lo que suelo hacer.
He hecho el diseño de un vinilo para un estudio de dibujo, pintura, manualidades y talleres etc, para niños. El sol siempre se refleja en este cristal así que os enseño el diseño original también.
La gran nube es la imagen de la empresa Ametsak (sueños en euskera), las gotas de lluvia son los niños y en la puerta se pueden ver unos pájaros que están aprendiendo a volar. Finalmente le añadí unos toques encaracolados.
Tan pronto como pueda os enseño más cosas que he hecho para este estudio.

Hello people, how´s there? I´m so glad the springtime has come at last! Here I am back to show you a little different stuff.
I made this design for an academy of drawing, arts, handicrafts and workshops etc, for children. The sun is always reflecting so I also show you the original design.
The big cloud is the image of the studio which name is Ametsak (Dreams) the raindrops are the children of course, and on the door you can see some birds learning to fly. Finally I signed with some curly traces. (Click on the images to make them larger)
Soon I´ll post other stuff for the same academy…

DOS MEJOR QUE UNO

Hola! Que mejor que actualizar el blog con un encargo y una colaboración.
Me pidieron hacer una Caperucita personalizada para un regalo especial, esta vez me toco ser Rey Mago. Todo tiene un porqué en esta ilustración. Por ejemplo, el paisaje que veis detrás es Eslovenia, en concreto Bled. Desde aquí agradezco al Lobo haber contado conmigo, fue un auténtico placer.

Por otro lado, en Ediciona surgió una propuesta gracias a Raquel Bonilla. Gracias al equipo formado y a todos los colaboradores ya podéis disfrutar de la primera edición de "Surcando Ediciona". Un e-zine bimestral con relatos cortos e ilustraciones que giran en torno a un tema. Está primera edición iba sobre los viajes y me tocó ilustrar un texto del también ilustrador Ernesto Lovera "El último viaje en tren". Un abuelo y su nieta viajan en tren tranquilamente hasta que empiezan a pasar cosas raras. El abuelo ve todos sus yos del pasado hasta que… mejor no cuento el final. Fue facilísimo trabajar con Ernesto y además me gustó mucho el relato.

Hello! What´s better than updating the blog with an order and a collaboration. I had been asked to made a personalized Red Riding Hood for a very especial gift. Everything has a meaning in this illustration, for example the landscape you see behind is Bled, Eslovenia. I want to thank the Wolf for counting on me, It was an authentic pleasure.

On the other side I made a collaboration on the e-zine "Surcando Ediciona" it is a bimonthly project with short stories and illustrations based on a concrete subject. This time was about trips, and I have worked on a story wrote by the illustrator Ernesto Lovera "The last train journey" A grandfather and his granddaughter are calmly traveling by train until rare things start happening. He sees himself in different times of his life… It was so easy work with Ernesto and I really like the story. Thanks to Raquel Bonilla, the great team behind and all the collaborators for made this possible.

CARTEL OLENTZERO Y GALTZAGORRIS

Parecía que me había tragado la tierra eh? Pero no, aquí sigo.
Os quería enseñar un trabajito que hice en Diciembre. Se trata de la leyenda del Olentzero, un carbonero que vive en el bosque y que todas las navidades baja a los pueblos a traer regalos a los niños. Viene a ser como el Papá Noel de Pais Vasco solo que le gusta fumar en pipa y se dice que le pierde el comercio y el bebercio. Entre sus ayudantes se encuentran los Galtzagorris, unos duendes diminutos, forzudos y rápidos; son también muy amigables y trabajadores. ¡Quién tuviera alguno en casa!
Aquí os enseño el cartel, el flyer y unos detalles de los duendecillos. Hasta pronto!

It seems I have been swallowed by the earth but I´m still here. I want show you a work that I did in December. It is about the legend of the Olentzero, a charcoal-burner who lives in the forest. He lowers every Christmas Eve to the villages, bringing gifts to the children. He´s like the Santa Claus of Basque Country but he likes to smoke in pipe and loves eating and drinking. Among his assistants are the Galtzagorris, a tiny, strong and rapid goblins; they are also very friendly and hard-working. I would like to have one at home!

Por fin ha pasado la fiebre de los calendarios aunque ya estoy pensando en el que voy a hacer para 2012. Hoy he enviado el último paquete y espero ir entregando los demás a lo largo de la semana. Muchas gracias a todos los que habéis pedido el vuestro, espero que lo disfrutéis y que os traiga mucha suerte. Muchas gracias también a familiares y amigos y de nuevo os deseo un feliz año a todos.

PELO CITY

El sueño de Febrero por supuesto! Cuando llega la factura de luz más cara, por lo menos a mí.
Si los edificios fueran peludos y encima se abrigaran como estos monstruitos esto no sucedería... aunque quizá tendríamos un problema de ácaros. En fin, los sueños tampoco son perfectos.

FURRY CITY

UN HADA MADRINA

Da gusto cuando te piden una ilustración por encargo sin conocer a la persona a la que va dirigida, te mandan algunas fotos y preguntas un poco, para tener algo en que basarte y entonces te escriben esto, que al final incluimos en la ilustración.

“Nuestra madre es una bruja buena, un hada madrina. Llena los días de magia y con sus ojos puede ver más allá de los labios, ve las palabras que la gente no llega a pronunciar y como lo sabe todo y no se le escapa nada, prepara una pócima (que ella llama café con leche), nos la bebemos juntas y de repente los problemas se esfuman. Tiene manos mágicas, coge muebles de las basuras y los convierte en cofres del tesoro, que cuentan las historias de la familia. También cura a gente en el hospital, gente que viene de muchos países a tener a sus bebés y que dejan de llorar cuando nuestra madre los abraza. De niña era muy delgada aunque comía bocadillos enormes y siempre iba en bicicleta; era la mayor de 5 hermanos así que ya sabía lo que significaba cuidar a una persona antes de que nosotras apareciésemos. TENEMOS UNA BODA!

Pues sí y mi regalo a la pareja ha sido hacer una invitación personalizada e informal, con unas ilustraciones de los novios y su hija. CAPERUCITA Y EL LOBO

Estoy haciendo unas ilustraciones sobre el cuento de Caperucita Roja, de momento está es la única que tengo terminada. Les he puesto ojos a los árboles, para que así Caperucita no esté tan sola ante el peligro (jeje).

ESTUDIO DE PERSONAJE

Bueno... este mes de agosto está siendo un poco raro. Mientras tuneo, organizo, actualizo y en definitiva destripo mi ordenador, se me acumula trabajo pendiente de todo tipo. Creo que hoy lo dejaré todo listo ya pero por si acaso voy a tocar madera.
De mientras que acabo alguna de las ilustraciones que tengo a medias os enseño un estudio de personaje que hice hace un par de meses. Espero que vuestro verano esté siendo menos caótico que el mío.

This August is very weird for me. While I update my computer messing up everything a little bit more, if that can be, work of all kind piles up. I believe today is the day for getting start again but I am gonna knock on wood just in case... I show you a character I made a few months ago while I try to update myself and finish some illustrations in process. I hope your summer is being less messy than mine.

HOY ES MI CUMPLE!

Siento que este post no sepa a tarta de chocolate, ya me la he comido toda, pero... ¿Y a fresa??

Estas dos potolas son las hijas de unos amigos que el jueves se van con la Vespa a una concentración y me pidieron una ilustración para llevarla con orgullo en una pegatina. La Vespa de Sofi y Laurita tenía que ser por supuestísimo, rosa fucsia. Espero que os guste.

Por otro lado mi cuñada me ha obsequiado con esta preciosa animación con la cual se me ha puesto la carne de gallina. No digo más, tenéis que verla. Es una colaboración entre Bolivia y Dinamarca.

Ahora a seguir celebrando mi cada vez mayor número de canas con los amigos. Un gran beso para todos!!

SIESTA

"...Había una araña en la habitación. María se tapó con la manta hasta la nariz intentando pensar en otra cosa. Cuando por fin el cansancio pudo más que ella, soñó que vivía en una flor con amigos muy especiales que nunca perdonaban la hora de la siesta. Desde entonces María encontraba a las arañas menos feas..."

Aquí sigo, con pequeñas ideas que ilustrar ahora que estoy un poco más libre. Me gusta esto de los sueñecitos... A ver si consigo hacer 12 y me hago un calendario. Esta florecilla podría ser mayo. Pasad buena semana!

UN SUEÑECITO...zzz...zzz...

...Erik tenía mucha fiebre, se encogió intentando dormir. Podía oír cada latido de su corazón como si fuera la sirena de un barco y poco a poco acabó soñando que era una tuba enrollada en sí misma. Cada profunda respiración era una nota y el

aire vibraba hasta hacerle cosquillas...

La ilustración la he hecho primero pero luego me he acordado de un sueño que tuvo mi novio de pequeño cuando tenía mucha fiebre. Espero que os guste!

...Erik was feverish, he curled up trying to sleep. He could hear every one of his heartbeats as if it was the siren of a boat and little by little he ended up dreaming that he was a tuba rolled up by itself. Each deep breath was a note and the air vibrated until it tickled him...

The illustration came first but then I remember a dream of my boyfriend when he was a kid and he had fever. Hope you like it!

POMPAS VERDES

Mi proyecto personal La sonrisa de Laura está ya casi en su recta final aunque seguro que algún cambio más cae. De momento lo dejaré reposar un tiempo a ver si me sigue convenciendo de la misma manera. Hace un par de semanas hice una sesión de Cuentacuentos con él enseñando las ilustraciones y después les pedí a los niños que dibujaran su sonrisa favorita.

Fue una experiencia genial! Os pongo las dos que más me gustaron y un trozo de ilustración ya terminada.

My personal project The Smile of Laura it´s almost done although I will probably make a few changes. I am gonna let it stand to see if it continues to be powerful enough to me. Two weeks ago I made a Storyteller session showing the illustrations and then I asked for the children to draw their favorite smile. It was a nice experience! I post my two favorites and a piece of a finish illustration.

¡UN AÑO!

Ayer hizo un año desde que abrí este blog. ¡Se me ha pasado volando! Quería celebrarlo con vosotros, los que pasáis por aquí a ver o a comentar. Espero poder seguir compartiendo y siendo testigo de vuestros aventuras, pensamientos, ilustraciones y cuentos. Y en definitiva espero que este año siga así, parecido, con cosas nuevas, ideas nuevas, proyectos nuevos. Para mí sin duda ha sido muy positivo. ¡Que mejor que celebrarlo con una sonrisa!:

Yesterday was the first anniversary of this blog. Doesn´t time fly? I want to celebrate it with all of you, the ones who visit or comment. MEDIA HORA PENSANDO UN TITULO...

Nada, que no se me ocurre... Hace tiempo puse un post explicando que era un proyecto personal de álbum ilustrado que llevo haciendo ya ni sé cuanto tiempo porque siempre hay algo más urgente... pero hoy lo he retomado (siiii!!).

Esta ilu creo que la voy a dejar así. No suelo ser tan monocromática y minimalista... pero definitivamente me ha gustado la experiencia. Ahora voy a seguir dedicándome este lunes. A desempolvar la guitarra! Que no sólo de ilustración viven los ilustradores.

A la porra la dieta a base de photshop...

Some posts ago I explain that this is a personal project I have been doing from time to time since... I can´t remember. There is always something more urgent but today I took it up again (yeah!!!).

I think this illu is finished. Usually I am not so monochromatic and minimalistic... but definitely I liked the experience. This monday is still devote to myself... to remove the dust from my guitar! Illustrators don´t live just from illustrations.

To hell with photoshop diet...

¡FELIZ AÑO NUEVO!

Hola, espero que halláis pasado una buena Navidad y que empecéis el año con buen pie. Yo voy a empezar con bastantes cambios. Nuevo ordenador (me paso a Mac!) nuevo espacio donde trabajar, y nuevo proyecto!! Si! Han aprobado otro proyecto que presentamos, la espera ha sido laaaarga, laaaarga pero por fin puedo empezar así que no se me va a ver mucho el pelo por aquí. HOLA!

Que tal? Yo llena de energía. Acabo de acabar un taller de ilustración digital para chavales y ha estado muy bien. Hoy como último día ha sido muy relajado, hemos dejado los ordenadores a un lado hemos visto un montón de cosas interesantes, hemos dibujado, jugado, reído... y les ha gustado la experiencia, que al fin y al cabo es lo que yo quería. Ha sido un auténtico placer. Por otro lado estás últimas semanas he estado bastante ocupada realizando la última parte del proyecto, esta vez es un juego de cartas, que es por cierto muy curioso. La temática es la misma, aprender la diversidad y aceptar las diferencias, aprender conceptos y educar con diversión a los más pequeños.

How are you? Me full of energy. I have just finished a digital illustration workshop for teens and it has been very good. Today it´s been the last one, very relaxed, we have left the computers aside, we see a lot of interesting things, we have draw, played and laughed... And they
were very happy with the experience, just what I really wanted!
These weeks I´ve been very busy making the last part of the project, this time it is a cards´game, very curious one. The subject is the same, learn diversity, accept differences and educate with fun.

Por otro lado TJ me obsequió con estos regalitos, (no te conozco en realidad pero tu blog me llena de buen rollo) así que quiero agradacerte el detalle y de paso hacer el mismo regalo a gente que me gusta. Digo lo mismo que TJ no hay ningún compromiso, en el fondo es una excusa para compartir. No he puesto a todos los que me gustan (que son muchos!!)

On the other side TJ has gave me some blog awards, ( I don´t know you in person but your blog gives me very good vibes!) so I want to thank her and take the opportunity to make the same gift to some people I like (I like so many more!) I say the same as TJ, do what you want with them, it is just an excuse to share.

MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB

Según la Wikipedia "Mary had a little lamb" es un poema- canción americana del siglo diecinueve escrita por Shara Josepha Hale que cuenta la historia de una niña y su corderito que le sigue a todas partes y un día la siguió al colegio. Lo más curioso es que es la primera grabación de la historia. Edison la utilizó para probar el fonógrafo, recitando la primera estrofa. Y bueno resulta que la niña que he dibujado es mi hermana María cuando era pequeña subiendo con un corderito de peluche. Tenía el típico móvil de cuna ¿Adivináis que canción sonaba? Bueno pues aún conservo la caja de música, son unos artefactos cuyo mecanismo me fascina.
A ver si me ayudáis a elegir entre las dos. Creo que está mejor sin borde, que opináis?

Wikipedia says that "Mary had a little lamb" is an american poem-song from the nineteenth-century written by Shara Josepha Hale. It tells the story of a little girl and her lamb, who followed her ewerywhere, even to the school one day. The most curious thing is that it was the first recording in history. Edison used it to test the phonograph, reciting the first stanza of the poem.

The girl I have drawn is my sister María when she was little, going moon upstairs with her cuddly lamb. She had the typical music mobile over the craddle, guess wich song sounded? Well I still have the music box, these artefacts and their mechanism fascinate me.
Would you help me to choose one of them? I think it is better without the border, What do you think?

ALUMNOS PELUDOS

Hola! Siento estar poco por blogolandia ultimamente, es una época de mucho trajín... a parte del cuento.
Os quería presentar al resto de los personajes. Cada uno juega un importante rol en el cuento y representan ciertos rasgos sociales y culturales, pero mi socia y yo los hemos camuflado para que lo accesorio no ocupe el lugar de lo importante...
Por otro lado echo un poquito de menos a Dimo y a Rudo y otras cosas que ya había empezado. Tampoco me puedo quejar porque estoy disfrutando realmente de este cuento, sólo que llevo desde agosto con animales ¡Necesito dibujar alguna otra cosa pronto! Y mi otro cuento... pues también está abandonado desde entonces. La sonrisa de Laura tendrá que esperar.
SNIFFF.... nos vemos pronto y pasad buena semana!

Hi! I am sorry for not being in blogland too much lately, lots of work... more than the story.
I want to introduce you the rest of the characters. Each one plays an important rol in the story representing social and culture values, but my fellow and me decided to camuflage that to bring out the important positive stuff not the negative secondary one.
On the other hand I am missing Dimo and Rudo a little bit and also those things I have already started. I can´t complain anyway cause I really enjoy this story, the thing is that I´ve been drawing animals since august so I need a change soon and my personal tale is abandoned since then... The smile of Laura must wait.

SIROCO

Una nueva ilustración para estrenar una nueva idea.
Primero quería hacer una chica cantando, y al final acabé haciendo al viento. Me puse a indagar en la mitología clásica y resulta que todos los vientos son hombres, pero desde hoy hay una nueva versión de Siroco, como mujer africana, (el siroco es un viento mediterráneo que viene del Sahara).
Esto me ha dado la idea de adaptar temas mitológicos a mi manera, pero poco a poco porque no voy a contar con mucho tiempo.

New illustration for a new idea.
First I wanted to draw a woman singing but I ended making the wind. I looked up for clasic mythology and all the winds were men so since today there is a new version of Siroco, as an african woman, (the Siroco is a mediterranean wind wich comes form Sahara).
It gives me the idea of adapting mythologic subjects below my point of view, little by little because I won´t have too much time.

¿A QUIEN SE LE OCURRIRÍA ESO DE CONTAR OVEJAS?

¿Alguien sabe? En mi opinión seguro que a alguien que contaba un cuento a un niño. Quizá el niño en cuestión soñaba con monstruos peludos y a alguien se le ocurrió que si esos horribles monstruos se convetían en ovejas mulliditas el niño se dormiría. A mi nunca me ha funcionado. Lo que está claro es que es un tema muy recurrente y aquí va mi versión para niños de 3-4 años.

Where did the counting sheep come about? Anybody knows? In my opinion from someone who told a tale to a child. Maybe the child was dreaming about furry monsters and someone tried to change that ugly monters for soft sheep and then the child could sleep. It has never worked for me. What is clear is that it´s a very recurrent subject and here goes my version of it for 3-4 year old children.

EL GATO PARACAIDISTA

Hace unos meses a mi gato se le cayó un pinza del balcón y fue detrás de ella. Al parecer es muy común en los gatos. Sobrevivió de un cuarto piso gracias a un coche muy bien colocado. Me llevé un buen susto y me inspiró para hacer esta ilustración

Few months ago my cat were following a clothespin in the balcony when he went over. Aparently it´s very common in cats. He survived a fall from the fourth floor. Thank god! I got a real fright and it inspired me to do this drawing.

ONE FROGGY DAY

Uff! Aqui va el trabajo de hoy, esta vez se trata de una charca donde viven unas ranas muy risueñas que me lo han hecho pasar muy bien. Están hablando pero ese es el ultimo paso. Mañana descansito y viaje express y el domingo volvemos a la carga.

Esta es una de la Ilustraciones que forman parte del cuento, es la más melancólica y la que rompe un poco con el sentimiento principal del libro y también con el color.

ÁRBOL DORMIDO

Un trozo de una ilustracion que hice ya por febrero y que no he coloreado hasta ahora. Me gusta en todos los tonos pero hoy a tocado este. Hice otra versión con una flor. Tienen en común que no están plantados en la tierra, llevan las raices "al aire".
